Promises attached to commemorating
the three o’clock hour.
Jesus said, “[At 3 p.m.] I
will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request
of Me in virtue of My Passion…”
(Diary - Divine Mercy in My Soul, 1320) We must
pray with trust. Remember Jesus’ words in the
Gospel, “When the Son of Man comes,
will He find faith on earth?” (Lk
18:8) If we truly believe, our prayers will be answered.
St.
Faustina had a vision of Jesus on the cross, but instead
of blood and water flowing from His pierced side, she
saw precious gems gushing from His opened heart. She
saw diamonds, rubies, and pearls flowing out on the
ground! She was surprised that so few people were going
to pick them up. Wouldn’t you pick them up?
Fr. Rózycki,
who analyzed St. Faustina’s diary, was overwhelmed
by this moment of grace given to us by Christ. Years
ago, with the devotion to Jesus’ Sacred Heart,
Our Lord asked for reparation by going to
Mass for nine consecutive months on the first Friday
of the month and receiving Holy Communion in reparation
—and this is verygood. Now Jesus is reaching out
to us and making it even simpler, so we can obtain mercy
every day at 3 p.m.

In
the Philippines, on two TV channels, instead of a commercial,
at 3 p.m. you see the Divine Mercy Image and people
stop to pray. You go shopping in the malls and you know
it’s 3 p.m. because people |

are
praying over the P.A. system. There are slogans on bumper
stickers, “Get that 3 o’clock habit!” “Keep
that 3 o’clock habit!” There was an American
Marine who saw one of these bumper stickers and asked a Philippino,
“What happened at 3 o’clock that I don’t
know about?” And the Philippino responded very seriously,
“You don’t know? Jesus Christ died for you at
3 p.m.! Heaven was opened!” Ask for mercy for yourself
and for others. This is the Hour of Great Mercy for the world!
Jesus calls it
the “Hour” of Mercy, but He’s not referring
to a full hour of prayer. He’s referring to the moment
in time. What’s important is to pray and to think about
Jesus’ Passion at 3 pm.
The Crucifix in
our Catholic Church is a special grace for us. Jesus is reminding
us, “I suffered for
you. You can do it! There’s not a day that you can’t
handle, because My grace is there to support you. Just contemplate
my wounds.”
Even Our Blessed Mother told St. Faustina, “Do
not fear apparent obstacles but fix your gaze upon the Passion
of my Son, and in this way you will be victorious.” (Diary,
449)
We must meditate
on Jesus’ Passion. Jesus told St. Faustina, “You
please Me most by suffering ... the more you will come to
love suffering ...the purer your love for Me will be."
(Diary, 279)
Usually when we
have a headache, the first thing we want to do is pull out
the aspirin. When we have a pain somewhere, we immediately
want to get rid of the pain. Instead, at these moments, fix
your gaze upon Jesus’ Passion. Offering your sufferings
with His will make up for what is “lacking in
the afflictions of Christ on behalf of His body,”
as St. Paul says (Col 1:24).
